My husband Chris and I had the honor of being the first wedding at the Buxton since its fire in 2022. It has been beautifully-restored, and it continues to embody the rich history for which it is know. We did our ceremony in the Lincoln Room, right in front of a portrait of Lincoln, celebrating the history of the inn (having hosted President Lincoln and playing a part in the Underground Railroad).
The 1812 Room is where we had our cocktail hour, and the Garden Room is where we had our dinner. Drinks and food were all delicious, and the service was great, from the detailing of napkins that matched our wedding colors to after-dinner coffee being served.
I had the immense pleasure of working with Arlena, the Buxton Inn’s event coordinator, who exuded such warmth and hospitality. She was incredibly personal both on the phone and in person. She provided great guidance, including recommendations for photography and flowers. My husband loved conversing with her at the bar, and we were touched by the mementos she gave us at the end of the night.

To us, hospitality is about creating a personal experience, so we carved out beautiful events spaces in our historical private dining rooms and courtyards.
THE LINCOLN ROOM
Formerly the Main Dining Room, this room is located in the original 1812 part of the Inn. Look through the same wavy glass windows as Abraham Lincoln. The original fireplace and woodwork make a statement in this space.
THE GARDEN ROOM
This atrium style space has brick floors & is decorated with plants & flowers. This space is the perfect for luncheons, rehearsal dinners, & bridal or baby showers. The bar located in the center of the room is a very unique smokehouse.
1812 LOUNGE
The newly concepted 1812 Lounge casual dining, features a cozy bar and unique 1800’s mirrored chandelier. The space can accommodate 30, The lounge can be combined with the Garden Room and the outdoor courtyard for larger group events.
DOWNSTAIRS IN THE TAVERN
Located in the original 1812 Main House of the Inn. Once part of the Underground Railroad and sleeping quarters for the stagecoach drivers, this space has original stonewalls and brick floor, and bar to enjoy time with family & friends.
THE HARRISON ROOM
These upstairs rooms feature a bar and a dining area. Private and intimate, the Harrison Room makes the perfect place for a family gathering or corporate retreat.
I would like to recommend the Historic Buxton Inn to other small businesses looking for the perfect venue to hold a business meeting or Lunch & Learn. In late 2019 we held a Lunch & Learn with 20 people in attendance. Not only was the meeting space laid out perfect for us, but the abbreviated menu was perfect for meeting multiple dietary requirements while exciting the taste buds. From beginning to end the food, service and meeting space was all we could ask for. Plus our clients in attendance felt pampered and raved about the experience. We’re already setting up our next Lunch & Learn at the Buxton Inn in 2020!
